The
Practice

There has been an NHS Dental Practice on this site since 1986. We completely refurbished and extended the Practice during the summer of 1999.

Being situated on the ground floor allows easy access for those in wheel-chairs, for prams and for those who find steps difficult. The front lobby allows a secure area for bicycles.

We have three fully equipped surgeries, a fully commissioned local decontamination unit and a toilet with full disabled and baby changing facilities.

We are proud to have been involved with Vocational Training and are currently involved in training Dental Nurses through various college programmes. As such, we strongly support learning, training and development of all individuals in the dental team. Our emphasis on enhancing individual knowledge is shown through the development of Personal Development Plans, which are routinely reviewed.

Please find attached a copy of our Privacy Notice, in line with GDPR.

Any complaints can be made verbally or in writing to our Complaints Manager, in line with our Complaints Policy

The
Dental Team

The Kelvingrove Dental Care team consists of three dentists; Mrs Anne Craig, Miss Gemma Lochhead and Mr Arhum Asif. Our Dentists are supported by a Dental Hygienist, a Practice Manager, five Dental Nurses and our Domestic Supervisor.

All fully trained clinical staff members are registered with the General Dental Council www.gdc-uk.org

Anne Craig (61791)

Anne Craig qualified from the University of Dundee in 1986. Following on from two years of Hospital positions Anne then moved to Glasgow where she worked as a Community Dental Officer for six years. Sessions in the Oral Surgery Departments of the Southern General and Western Hospitals were also carried out during this time.

Anne has worked in general practice since 1994. Anne gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis in 2003 and the Diploma in Forensic Medical Science in 2006. She has also passed the rigorous selection process to become a Vocational Trainer. In 2011 she was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Sedation and Pain Management from the Eastman Dental Institute.

Gemma Lochhead (152141)

Gemma graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2008 and, since qualification, has worked in general practice in Ayrshire and Glasgow. During her time as a General Dental Practitioner Gemma has enjoyed gaining experience in all aspects of dental practice, especially working with the rest of the dental team to provide comfortable care to anxious patients and children.

Gemma has a particular interest in treating patients who suffer from tooth wear and also in the provision of cosmetic treatments. Following qualification, Gemma has completed post graduate courses in Oral Surgery and Endodontics at the Glasgow Dental Hospital and is looking forward to continuing her professional development with future courses on Sedation. In her spare time Gemma enjoys walking and is the proud owner of two dogs who ensure plenty of opportunity to do so. Gemma is delighted to be part of the team at Kelvingrove Dental Care.

Mr Arhum Asif (264206)

Arhum graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2016. Having completed his vocational training year in Scotland, he has worked as an associate in general practice ever since. Arhum has spent time working in Glasgow, Paisley and Ayrshire. Arhum enjoys all aspects of dentistry and strives to make patients feel welcome and relaxed.  Outside of dentistry Arhum enjoys playing football for his local team, in addition to spending time with friends and family.

The Support Staff

The Dental Nurses are vital members of our successful team. As well as supporting and mentoring the dental nurse trainees they continually monitor cross infection control, development of radiographs, equipment and health and safety issues. Patients should feel free to discuss any non-clinical concerns with them.

We are a Preventive Orientated Practice and recommend regular visits to our Hygienist.
All Dentists will discuss the details of your oral health with you.

We have a wide range of dental hygiene aids, sold at competitive prices. The most suitable oral hygiene aids will be recommended to you by your dentist or dental hygienist.
